Great afternoon session with Hannah as she prepares to be a part of staff with a music performance organization for wind instrument education. A Mountain Ridge and NAU grad who has been playing as a part of some of the most successful bands, Hannahs expertise and hard work ethic will be inspiring to her future students!

Woodwinds Specialist Hannah Hafalia is a flutist and piccoloist from Glendale, Arizona. Music became a regular part of Hannah’s life when she began playing flute in 4th grade. Since then what was once a hobby evolved into a passion that she is dedicating her life to. 

Like many young musicians, Hannah was introduced to the marching arts when she entered high school. It was an activity that she quickly fell in love with. During her junior year she started playing piccolo in both marching and concert settings. One year later she became the flute section leader. After graduating from Mountain Ridge High School in 2017, Hannah continued her education at NAU. She performed in the Lumberjack Marching Band as well as the NAU Wind Symphony. 

Hannah is well aware of the unique opportunities presented to those who partake in the marching arts. She had the privilege of playing her flute at Super Bowl 49, the Pro Bowl, and the NFL Experience. In 2016 Hannah traveled to Hawaii to march in the Waikiki Holiday Parade and participate in the events commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Hannah currently studies Music Education at GCC. In her free time she enjoys hiking, following true crime, playing with her dog, and learning about new things. - Line Arts Bio

Amazing session last week with Flor Aparicio, a Real Estate Asset Manager, specializing in multifamily real estate. Flor is a part of the renowned Chamberlin + Associates team serving California, Nevada, and Arizona.

She was looking for headshots that showed her personality, strength, and stood out as a personal branding while focusing on her area of expertise: real estate assets like her museum vibe mid-century modern art home. Her home matches Flor, classy and stylish. She is in her element in a beautiful property, ready to take care of clients and get serious work done!

I came by with equipment like large softboxes, my Flashpoint strobes, and Canon cameras with portrait lens and we got some great images in about 30 mins. Flor was fabulously ready with polished hair, professional makeup and a stunning white power suit. There was also an amazing amount of soft, warm, beautiful light glowing in every room that we definitely took advantage of, as well as beautiful lines and art pieces like the commissioned original paintings and an Eames chair for the best portrait accompaniments I have ever seen! I really enjoyed my time at Flor’s home, and just love the portraits we got for her!

After a quick 20 minute session including a few outfit changes they were off to play on a golfing date.

Now, this good looking power couple didn’t have to worry about taking a bad photo, for most of us however it can cause anything from mild concern to near panic attacks when getting our photograph taken. Regardless of not if there is any truth in the perception that you are “unphotogenic” (seriously- almost everyone tells me this and none of you have been right about it yet!)

The first thing we see in a picture of ourself is a laundry list of perceived faults. I always say, getting your picture made can be VULNERABLE! I want to earn your trust so that you believe me when I say nobody sees what you think is a fault when they look at your portraits (who would want to be around anyone who was looking for the worst anyway?) In the 21st century, according to Wiki, the training of osteopathic physicians in the United States is equivalent to the training of Doctors of Medicine (MDs). Osteopathic physicians attend four years of medical school followed by an internship and a minimum two years of residency.

Maybe we are in pain, or choosing care for a beloved family member or child- and we take a lot of factors into our seemingly split second decision from seeing a doctors photo. A well lit and direct friendly gaze projects honestly, integrity, and concern. I can tell in 2 seconds if someone has taken the time to prepare for a photo. When I see that a portrait was professionally taken I see the effort taken by a doctor or business professional to give their best as mentioned above in the quote by Dr. Foxwell. Additionally, an update headshot is just as important! If someone hasn’t taken a few moments (from understandably very busy career and life) to make the effort to be recognizable it conveys a feeling of not caring- that may not be correct but it is a reality of how people react to decades old photos.
